Chapter Eighteen

Exhausted from the previous night, Drake and I spend the entire morning in bed. We sleep and make love and sleep again, our bodies so entangled that I can’t tell where I stop and he begins. He makes good on his promise to use my mouth often for his pleasure and I gladly comply, loving the feel of my lips wrapped around his smooth velvet shaft and the earthy taste of him almost as much as I love the way I can make him wild and hard for me in seconds.

“Thanks for letting me tag along to your rehearsal yesterday,” I say as we lay sprawled on his bed, my head pillowed on his chest as his fingers lazily stroke my stomach. “I haven’t listened to much country music, but you’re amazing. I think it was especially hard for me since Beckett and Griffin were so close. I always felt like there was something special between them that I didn’t have, but I didn’t know what it was.

“I was eleven when I learned the truth about my brothers. I still remember it vividly. Griffin had just found out that his DNA could help our dad’s research in finding a cure for cancer, and he was trying to convince Dad to use his tissue samples to test the drug he was creating. It was the first time I’d heard the whole story about how Beckett and Griffin had been born in Brazil, how Griffin had had leukemia and recovered from it, and how our mom and dad had adopted them.

“I finally understood why I always felt like the third wheel. They weren’t even my real brothers! My world caved in. I felt like I’d been deceived, that everything I’d thought was real was a lie. I decided to run away. I put some clothes,
